Undo It

Ok here's the lowdown: Maths and BioChem were terrible. They're not tough, but I just couldn't seem to perform. It's like there's a barrier in front of me that I couldn't break through. Sadness to the power of infinity. Film elective started out so excellent that I thought I was finally gonna score for a paper, but when I reached the 2nd essay question, I was stuck. Didn't know what to write. Just scribbled some crap and moved on the last question which was supposed to be easiest question, but apparently I didn't have enough time to finish writing what I wanted to. My hand was literally trembling and sore from the high speed writing that I thought it was gonna come off.

Sigh.

I really don't know what to do. Everyone seems to be improving except me. Moving stagnantly. What's wrong with me? I'm confused. Science isn't for me? Too late Gary. And Arts isn't really for you too...

Help. I can't afford to let this happen again. Year 2 isn't child's play. But how do I break through that invisible barrier?

Think, Gary. Think. You have 4 months to think. To reflect. To find a solution. You can do it. You probably just need a little break from everything else. To find yourself again.

I sure hope so.

Special sem starts from 11th May. I do wish that I can get an A for this elective to pull up my cGPA. Give me your blessings. And luck.

First day of the holidays was cool. Had an awesome night's sleep and just chilled the day at home. Planning stuff I wanna do during this 4 months. Ok here's a temporary to-do list:

1. Master playing the guitar

2. Catch all my favourite movies coming out this summer

3. Have more exercise

4. Meet up with friends

5. Learn how to cook from my Mom

6. Get a temp job after special sem

7. Reinvent myself

I guess that's about it for now. Haha. And I hope that I can accomplish all these within 4 months.

Anyway, SHOCKER elimination on Idol!!! Siobhan went home this past week.

Siobhan

Btw, Christina's new video for "Not Myself Tonight" just premiered. Epic. Love the controversies. Take that GaGa!!!

Till next post then. Peace Out! :)

Chemical Rush

First 2 papers were over. Physics was like any other Physics tutorial/test/anything-related stuff I've come across. I just hope that I pass it. CBC112 was traumatic. My B+ is GONE.

Last 3 papers!!! I really need Maths to be A. And my elective to maintain the A-. 3 days to recharge!

"Idol Gives Back" this past week! And Tim got booted out. Shania Twain as mentor next week! Plus Rascal Flatts and Shakira perform!

Tim

ACMs this year was so damn awesome. Taylor Swift going home empty-handed was the best thing of the whole night.

Btw, you should totally check out the new trailer for M. Night Shyamalan's "The Last Airbender". Totally EPIC.

The One & Only Kylie

Kylie just announced that her brand new album "Aphrodite" featuring the first single, "All The Lovers", will be out July 5th 2010. Nice cover! But a little too OTT. Oh well, she's Kylie after all. This is gonna be the 6th Kylie album I'm gonna own.

In case you're not aware, "Aphrodite" is the name of a Greek Goddess. She is the Goddess of love, beauty and sexuality. Anyway, what's up with 2010's obsession with Greek Gods?

Do-Wah-Doo

I'd figured I also wanna get a keyboard. Rather than a piano. Piano's kinda cool and classy, I know, but it takes up too much space. Keyboard, on the other hand, is smaller, more portable, and you can incorporate beats while playing songs. It's something fresh that I would like to try! :D Plus the volume is adjustable too so I can play it at night or something without creating a musical racket in my flat.

Hence, the issues I'm facing now are:

1. Where to put it?

2. Budget?

Sigh. Maybe I should consider this more carefully before making a decision. Omg I want both a new acoustic guitar AND a keyboard badly. :S

Putting this aside, exams start next Thursday (damn why the hell am I blogging about musical instruments now) and I'm happy that the first paper is Physics. Get that out of the frigging way.

After practising on a past-year paper for 112, it's nice to know that I could solve the majority of the questions correctly. Still, there's plenty of room for improvement!!! :)

My aim for this semester is to pull up my cGPA to a 4.00. It's kinda hard though. But I'm gonna try my best to attain it.

Oh and btw, say goodbye to Andrew and Katie. Double elimination!!! 2 girls left. :(

Andrew                Katie

I'm currently hooked on B.o.B now. Awesome rapper with even more awesome songs!!! :D

Whew...

...down down..deeper down. Just finished another couple of sections of 'THE INSANITY II' and all I gotta say is, this is some scary sh*t coming out of my brain and onto the medium we all know and love called Flash here. Tell you what guys if you want to have cozy dreams don't sit on your computer alone drawing pics of half-eaten bodies with their intestines hanging out...
Anyway, I need a break so I thought I'd blog for a sec before I get out the guitar.

I don't suppose I'll ever spend as much time authoring any games as I have with the Insanity series. But will there be a trilogy? Maybe one day. But 6 months is really way too long to spend on making a game. What's the point? I definitely need to cut them shorter. With story-intensive games like this one there's really no choice but still...One worry I do have is fitting this all in under 5 mb. I can't see it happening what with all the audio that has to go in at the end, so there might be some restrictions in that capacity.

Anyway, 2011 will be my year for multiple game releases- you can bank on that.

I want to wrap this puppy up because I'm DYING to code a decent beat-em up. I've been doing *ahem* research? on MAME recently and some of the golden oldies, Crimefighters, Shadow of Mystara, Aliens vs Predator. Man, thems some good games and I'm bagging to get my imprint on the legacy of great fighting games.
I quit playing Tekken 6 because frankly the game isn't that much of a challenge, I think my Eddie is retired at around position 170 in the world so, can't complain. Back on MGO again with a level 14 girl character called 'THE INSANITY' (surprise). You wont find me on the UK servers but if you ever go on the Japanese ones feel free to friend me and we can clan up or something.
I've been checking out some of the new releases on PSN. Brink is looking exciting. Just, dammit, I wish they'd bring out Monster Hunter on the PS3. Even if I have to go through it all in Japanese again like I did on the PS2 I'd be game.

Mugging Mania

I feel so unproductive these few days. But it has gotta stop.

Went for Imp's surprise birthday party last night. But before that I wanna thank Eddy for accompanying me till 8pm!! :) We spotted some cool stuff over @ Borders (like a humongous eraser with "For really BIG mistakes" printed on it). Anyway, I told myself that I wouldn't touch alcohol because I didn't want an unnecessary headache and sleepless night. So I cheated with the shot. And luckily I did because Imp added absinthe in the stealth. Aha. But I got duped by Fana into sipping "orange juice". Yea orange vodka more like. :S Was the first to leave the party as I was so damn tired.

For the past couple days I was actually pondering whether I actually belonged to the Arts or Sciences. Yea stupid question, I know. But I just have a strong interest and passion in music. Like performing, composing, writing, producing. Sometimes I can form melodies in my head and come up with scraps of lyrics here and there but didn't really try to piece those up together into a song. I really really miss playing the piano. Well, even if I don't have a piano now, I have a guitar! It's just that I haven't been practising regularly. So, one of my to-do tasks for the holidays is to master the guitar. And sing along at the same time. Haha, I'll probably post up videos of me singing and playing the guitar if I think I'm good enough to do so. Who knows. But first I also need to brush up on my singing. It isn't exactly very listenable yet. LOL. Well namely the voice control and tuning. I don't think anyone has heard me sing before except for my sister.

Once I have mastered the guitar, I may start to write songs. It's no easy feat man. And lyrics are really important in a song because the audience needs to relate to them. Now you know why Taylor Swift is so successful. That's because people can relate to her songs. Not to mention you must also have catchy hooks and all.

I guess that's about it for my interest in music. Maybe I should really invest a little more time on it? I feel happy if I'm doing something music related. And I'll definitely post any updates of my music stuff here.

Oh btw, Michael Lynche was saved *GROAN* and I am absolutely NOT looking forward to seeing Glambert mentor the contestants. The Idol producers are seriously butchering the show.

Michael

Ok I need to get back to my Thermodynamics now. Till next post. :)

Titans Will Rule

Ben was my movie buddy today and we caught "Titans". Well well, what can I say? Effects were very cool. Story? Not much.

It felt like the whole film was being rushed. Perseus suddenly became an experienced warrior, his group of fighters seemed to only take 10 seconds to reach each of their destinations, and the worst was the Kraken made such a big hoo-ha rising from the sea just to be turned to stone in less than what, 5 seconds?? Oh. No wait, Hades was even worse than the Kraken. Just a lightning bolt from the sky charged to the sword and in one single fling banished back to the Underworld by Perseus. In 3 seconds. Amazing.

I can't deny that the action was awesome. But this film could have been done much, much better. I liked Pegasus though.

I know a lot of peeps said this sucked, so just be on the lookout for (yet) another Gods/War theme film in November 2011. It promises action from the Gods (especially Zeus), instead of them just posing in glitter on Mount Olympus like in COTT.

And if you're going to catch COTT, watch it in 2D. Take my advice. :)

Idol, You're Going Down

Every season of American Idol gets worse over the years.

And I do not only mean the contestants, but the themes, mentors and guest performers as well.

This season is by far the worst:

1. Not many stand-out contestants.

2. Lousy themes. I think the best one was the Rolling Stones week. R&B week -- seriously?? Next week is Lennon/McCartney Songbook AGAIN. Basically it's the Beatles. Didn't they do this last season already? If I'm not wrong...

3. Miley as a mentor??! WTF.

4. Guest performers do not always fit the theme for that week. Ke$ha performing during Rolling Stones week? LOL. I mean I love Ke$ha, but Idol should get like some Rolling Stones related performances like what David Cook has done. And we're having Rihanna on Beatles week. OMG.

Still, I always watch the performances of my favourite contestant this season, Crystal. :) Siobhan isn't consistent, and her screams are really starting to annoy me. Her best scream was when she did Aretha's "Think". She should tone it down now and have something like what she has done for "House of the Rising Sun". Do something to make me like you again, Siobhan!

I Wanna Tap-Dance

The e-lectures online are so sleep-inducing.

Went for film lecture yesterday and caught "Top Hat" which was a 1935 romance-comedy-musical hybrid. Gotta hand it to Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. They were amazing!!! The tap-dancing was so awesome. I never could have imagined that I would enjoy a black-and-white film but I did. Very much too.

Exams in less than 3 weeks' time... Got to start my massive revision attack. Haha.

Found myself listening to Slash today. You know, the guitarist Slash? Well, I only listened to a couple songs from his latest album which I thought were quite melodic. I don't normally listen to this genre but, oh well.

Can't wait to watch "Clash of the Titans" next week!!!

And Didi got booted out. Wow. 3 girls in a row. Please don't let a guy win this season!
